The worst thing you can do is wash it down the drain with a shampoo that doesn’t understand what it’s dealing with. Most shampoos strip colour because their surfactants are too aggressive. This one is built differently.
The formula starts with organic aloe vera juice as its base — not water — which immediately sets a gentler foundation. The surfactant system uses Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Coco-Glucoside alongside Sodium Coco-Sulfate, which means effective cleansing without the harshness that pulls colour molecules from the hair shaft. Hydrolyzed wheat protein strengthens the internal structure that holds colour in — damaged hair loses colour faster because the cuticle is open, and wheat protein helps close and reinforce it. And bergamot oil adds a sophisticated citrus character that lifts the formula from functional to something you genuinely look forward to using.

Wheat Protein

Colour-treated hair is structurally compromised — the colouring process opens the cuticle to deposit pigment, and that cuticle doesn’t always close completely afterwards. Hydrolyzed wheat protein helps repair and reinforce this structure, keeping the cuticle smoother and tighter. Smoother cuticle means colour stays locked in longer and reflects light better — which is why your colour looks more vibrant after using this shampoo.
Bergamot
CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA

At INCI position #5, betaine is one of the most concentrated ingredients in this formula. A natural humectant that modifies the cleansing system to be as gentle as possible — critical for colour-treated hair, where harsh cleansing is the primary cause of premature fade. Attracts and retains moisture while improving manageability and softness. The quiet hero that makes colour-safe cleansing possible.

Your Ritual
Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water — not hot. Heat opens the cuticle, which is exactly what you’re trying to avoid with colour-treated hair. Apply to your palms, lather gently, and work through from roots to ends. The aloe vera base and betaine create a soft, effective lather that cleanses without the stripping sensation of harsher shampoos.
Wash four times a week — Clare’s clinical recommendation. For freshly coloured hair (within the first week after colouring), you can reduce to three washes to allow the colour to fully set.
Follow with the Fresh Conditioner on mid-lengths and ends. They share the same citrus aroma family and the same philosophy — gentle care that protects rather than strips. Once a week, swap the conditioner for the Intensive Rescue Hair Mask if your colour-treated hair needs deeper repair. Colour processing weakens hair structure, and the mask addresses that directly.
