Classic Hits March 13 2026 - Segment 1
A short radio interview where Triona speaks with Clare Devereux from Hair Health Essentials about what a trichologist does, why hair is so connected to confidence, and practical everyday haircare advice — including trims, washing, product choice, drying, brushes, heat tools, and protecting hair from chlorine and holiday damage.
March 13, 2026
Triona 00:01 → 00:19
Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. It's Trina. My, my God, [laughs] the glamour that is after walking into studio. I feel like I'm in bit. [laughs] I feel disgraceful.
Clare 00:19 → 00:23
Oh, God, Trina, I'm not trying to. I'm just trying to inspire as much as I can, you know?
Triona 00:23 → 00:23
Yeah.
Clare 00:23 → 00:25
It's spring-like, so I'm trying to be-
Triona 00:25 → 00:25
This is radio
Clare 00:25 → 00:26
... I'm trying to be spring-like. [laughs]
Triona 00:26 → 00:28
You should've come in in a tracksuit.
Clare 00:28 → 00:29
[laughs]
Triona 00:29 → 00:33
And your hair not washed. As you said to me, it is your business to have good hair.
Clare 00:33 → 00:41
It is. It is my business to have good hair, and if I don't know how to look after my hair at this point, Trina, the, the, really, the,
Triona 00:41 → 00:43
Yeah, yeah. You can't go around with greasy hair.
Clare 00:43 → 00:44
You definitely can't.
Triona 00:44 → 00:44
No.
Clare 00:44 → 00:46
Never. It's n- a never thing, no. [laughs]
Triona 00:46 → 00:49
Right. So explain to us all what a trichologist is.
Clare 00:49 → 01:07
So a trichologist is a hair and a scalp expert. So what I deal with mostly is I deal with a lot of hair loss. I deal with people that are having problems with eczema
Triona 01:07 → 01:07
Yeah.
Clare 01:07 → 01:25
They're going through a bit of an identity crisis. Um, they're thinking, "You know, what has happened to my hair? It's in bad condition. I can't do anything with it.
Triona 01:25 → 01:25
Yeah.
Clare 01:25 → 01:35
So I deal with it both on medical level, but I also deal with it very much on a regular level, that I understand what it's like to have those identity crisis,
Triona 01:35 → 01:43
'Cause your hair is such an important thing, isn't it, for women? We just love our hair, and if you feel good with your hair, you feel good in all areas.
Clare 01:43 → 01:56
Yeah. Well, I really think it doesn't matter how great your makeup is, I mean, that's obviously wonderful, and a fabulous dress, but if you're going out for a night
Triona 01:56 → 01:56
Yeah.
Clare 01:56 → 01:56
That's what I believe.
Triona 01:57 → 01:58
Yeah, yeah. Bad hair days are not good.
Clare 01:58 → 01:59
No.
Triona 01:59 → 02:01
Um, I have bad hair days most days, Clare.
Clare 02:01 → 02:01
[gasps]
Triona 02:01 → 02:03
Most days, and I'm in radio, so it's okay.
Clare 02:04 → 02:04
[laughs]
Triona 02:04 → 02:15
But we do have this pressure now. We have to be on social media and all that, so I'm gonna be looking for tips from you today. First off, I thought
Clare 02:15 → 03:06
It's definitely the time, Trina, because let's face it, we've had a very bad winter [laughs] and everyone is out there trying to book holidays and a bit of sunshine into their life.
Triona 03:06 → 03:06
Yeah
Clare 03:06 → 03:25
... and it ravels. So that hair that's broken is gonna keep raveling, and it's just gonna keep going up, and up, and up, and up. So your ends are gonna get wispier
Triona 03:25 → 03:29
People think by getting their hair cut, they're gonna lose the length, though, and it's not gonna grow back.
Clare 03:30 → 03:34
Well, it is going to grow back, that's for sure, 'cause your hair grows about a half an inch a month. So we all know we have hair on our hair roots.
Triona 03:34 → 03:36
That's what we know from the roots. [laughs]
Clare 03:36 → 04:05
Exactly. So we all know our hair grows. It's just what's happening is the hair all up here, these n- this new hair, it's much healthier, and this hair on the end can tend to get very, very fine,
Triona 04:05 → 04:05
Okay
Clare 04:05 → 04:07
... and you're gonna lose that length anyway.
Triona 04:07 → 04:25
Okay. Um, product-wise, I think, uh, the younger girls are so much better now looking after themselves with their masks and all this. Like,
Clare 04:25 → 04:33
Obviously shampooing your hair regularly. I know this is always controversial when I say you should be washing your hair every day. Everyone looks at me with horror.
Triona 04:33 → 04:33
It's such a big job.
Clare 04:34 → 04:36
Yeah. Well, you see, it's not the washing so much, is it, Trina?
Triona 04:36 → 04:37
It's the drying.
Clare 04:37 → 04:37
It's the drying.
Triona 04:37 → 04:37
It's the drying.
Clare 04:37 → 05:50
Yeah, it's the drying and the styling, and I get that. And let's face it, everyone has different hair types.
Triona 05:50 → 05:53
Can we go for these kinda cheaper masks?
Clare 05:53 → 05:54
I don't really know. I don't know-
Triona 05:54 → 05:54
Oh
Clare 05:54 → 05:56
... 'cause I don't use those, so I can't really comment.
Triona 05:56 → 05:56
Yeah.
Clare 05:56 → 06:16
But the product is very important. With shampoos, I think it's very important to have more natural products.You know, sulfates
Triona 06:16 → 06:16
Mm-hmm.
Clare 06:16 → 06:18
And I definitely think that more natural is better.
Triona 06:18 → 06:22
If you've got hair like me, you definitely have to get the hairdryer out. Are we really doing damage with the hairdryer?
Clare 06:23 → 06:30
You have to dry your hair. Obviously, to let your hair dry natural is wonderful if you have this beautiful hair that just sits in this fabulous curl, which is not most of us,
Triona 06:30 → 06:30
[laughs]
Clare 06:30 → 06:41
I have naturally curly hair, and it does not sit that way either. So first of all, make sure you don't brush your hair when it's wet. That's very important.
Triona 06:41 → 06:42
So you're dragging it down?
Clare 06:42 → 07:10
You're dragging it down, and you're getting more breakage. Think about it. It's gonna just snap. So a wide-tooth comb is very important. And also in the shower
Triona 07:11 → 07:12
They're not, they're not that dear.
Clare 07:12 → 07:12
They're like 100.
Triona 07:12 → 07:14
The one that I got was about 60 quid or something.
Clare 07:14 → 07:14
Oh, really?
Triona 07:14 → 07:18
Yeah. They're like, they're the same price as what you'd pay for an ordinary hairdryer, I think.
Clare 07:18 → 07:19
Yeah.
Triona 07:19 → 07:19
Yeah.
Clare 07:19 → 07:21
Yeah. Oh, it's well worth it 'cause you have more power in it, so.
Triona 07:21 → 07:21
Yeah.
Clare 07:21 → 07:37
And then the right brushes. I think the right tools are so important. If you ask anyone who works in the industry, they'll tell you that. Natural bristle brushes
Triona 07:37 → 07:37
Okay.
Clare 07:37 → 07:38
So that's the thing.
Triona 07:38 → 07:43
The hairdryer, the wattage is important actually, isn't it? Is it 2,000 watt or something that if you've got kinda thick hair-
Clare 07:43 → 07:43
Yeah
Triona 07:43 → 07:44
... you need that?
Clare 07:44 → 07:52
2,000 watt, and, and some of the dryers are also smaller now with a higher, you know, a higher watt in them, and that's better 'cause they're a little bit lighter. And use a nozzle
Triona 07:52 → 07:52
I know.
Clare 07:52 → 08:17
A lot of people just... But you, you're all, you're gonna just get this friction with the cuticle of your hair. It won't sit flat. So
Triona 08:17 → 08:26
You mentioned about the nozzle there. I lost the nozzle the other week, and I had to go one hairdryer without it, and it's stating me. Like, it just,
Clare 08:26 → 08:30
No, it makes a massive difference. People don't think it does, but it directs the heat in the right place. Otherwise, it's all over the place.
Triona 08:31 → 08:43
Now, for people who like the sun or people who like to go swimming, chlorine obviously is a big thing. I don't know whether this is an old wives' tale. I used to hear that
Clare 08:43 → 08:51
Really what's happening with the green is the minerals, usually like a copper or so, like minerals will make your hair go green.
Triona 08:51 → 08:51
Okay.
Clare 08:51 → 09:00
So that's what makes it go that greeny color. Um, so what you can do is, obviously in swimming pools a lot of the time people wear caps, but on holidays,
Triona 09:00 → 09:00
Yeah, yeah.
Clare 09:00 → 09:08
Definitely dampen your hair before you get into the water because then it doesn't absorb as much of the chlorine, and you can use sprays as well, like a leave-in conditioner helps as well.
Triona 09:08 → 09:17
Trichologist Claire Devereux is with us today from hairhealthessentials.com, and she's gonna answer some more hair issues. More still to come on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio.
Classic Hits March 13 2026 - Segment 2
A short Classic Hits Radio conversation where Triona Mara speaks with Clare Devereux about hair thinning, shedding and scalp health, including what a trichologist does, what hair loss can signal, the impact of tight hairstyles, colour changes and bleach, and how extensions, wigs and hair pieces can be used safely when applied properly.
March 13, 2026
Triona00:00 --> 00:07

This is Classic Hits Radio. It's Trina Mara, and we've got a hair expert in studio with us, Claire Devereux, who is a trichologist. What is a trichologist?

Clare00:08 --> 00:21

A trichologist, Trina, is a person who specializes in hair and scalp health. So I help women have the best hair of their life, Trina. I help with, uh, thinning hair,

Triona00:22 --> 00:27

A lot of women have this hair loss and thinning hair as they age. Is it a natural thing that will happen?

Clare00:28 --> 00:47

Um, I mean, it doesn't happen to everyone, you know. Some people are blessed and it doesn't happen. But there are so many women that do find their hair, at certain points, particularly with hormones,

Triona00:47 --> 00:47

Right

Clare00:47 --> 00:47

... notice first.

Triona00:47 --> 00:48

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Clare00:48 --> 00:49

The ponytail isn't as thick anymore.

Triona00:49 --> 00:51

And, like, things like getting bald patches.

Clare00:51 --> 00:57

If you notice that your hair is thinning or shedding, we all shed between 80 and 100 hairs a day. That is normal for absolutely everyone.

Triona00:57 --> 01:00

No, no, no, no. Have you, have you seen the chair behind me here? [laughs]

Clare01:00 --> 01:00

[laughs]

Triona01:00 --> 01:05

There's at least 1,000 hairs on that. So what's normal and what's not normal then, in terms of hair loss?

Clare01:05 --> 01:34

All right. So patches, yeah, well, patches are usually a different thing, like a- alopecia. But all hair loss comes under the word alopecia, an umbrella. But, um, hair loss,

Triona01:34 --> 01:34

Mm.

Clare01:34 --> 02:01

So if you're noticing hair loss today, think back about three or four months and see what happened in your life. Did something happen? Had you had a baby? So three,

Triona02:01 --> 02:01

Oh, yeah.

Clare02:01 --> 02:19

And that's really what it is. So it's to really get your nutrition back. It's to get a balance again in your body. It's when your body's kind of out of balance

Triona02:19 --> 02:27

Okay. Um, a lot of girls are wearing their hair pulled very tightly in ponytails, et cetera, and buns, et cetera. Does that affect the hair?

Clare02:28 --> 02:42

100% it does, yeah. So a lot of people, yeah, you kind of see a trend for it and it, and it can look great, but the problem is that kind of pulling on your hair, particularly

Triona02:42 --> 02:42

Mm.

Clare02:42 --> 02:56

So it's really a good idea to avoid those. It might be okay to do it one day, but it's really not a good idea to be doing it for a whole week. And particularly

Triona02:56 --> 02:58

I don't think I could do it anyway because the headache.

Clare02:58 --> 02:58

I know.

Triona02:58 --> 03:00

I'd get such a headache if I had my hair tied-

Clare03:00 --> 03:00

Yeah

Triona03:00 --> 03:01

... up all the time like that.

Clare03:01 --> 03:04

I'd be exactly the same. I just wouldn't be able... And you have a lot of hair, you see-

Triona03:04 --> 03:04

Yeah

Clare03:04 --> 03:15

... so you feel that weight on your head as well. And there's a lot of hairstyles as well that could cover hair loss. So for example, if you find your hair's shedding a lot,

Triona03:15 --> 03:15

Yeah.

Clare03:15 --> 03:21

Because sometimes when people wear their hair to a certain side, they tend to straighten their hair more on that area, so they're getting more breakage around there.

Triona03:21 --> 03:22

Yeah.

Clare03:22 --> 03:33

So change maybe the parting on your hair, that's a big thing. And if you've a lot of new hair around the front, maybe consider fringe, slight bangs that

Triona03:34 --> 03:41

I think so many of us just go with the same hairstyle all the time, don't we? And we never even speak to our hairdresser about how we feel.

Clare03:41 --> 03:41

I know.

Triona03:41 --> 03:59

We just don't say it. We think, "I'll ju- I'll just get the same as usual, same as the..." And I was saying to you, Claire, how last weekend I had a little change in color because I

Clare03:59 --> 04:01

I think we all end up going back blonde.

Triona04:01 --> 04:01

But I know it's for the best. [laughs]

Clare04:01 --> 04:06

We always end up back. We do it because we know it's for the best. In our hearts, we're... It's very hard when you're blonde. Anyone listening there that's blonde-

Triona04:06 --> 04:06

Yeah

Clare04:06 --> 04:23

... you know what we mean. The thing is, like, no matter how careful and how amazing a colorist is, and I'm a colorist myself, bleach is very, very harsh on your hair. So if you're dark

Triona04:23 --> 04:24

Excuse me, I'm not dark naturally.

Clare04:24 --> 04:27

I mean, sorry, you're, you're just going to the darker, slightly darker side this time.

Triona04:27 --> 04:27

Yes.

Clare04:27 --> 04:28

Sorry. You're normally naturally really blonde.

Triona04:28 --> 04:28

Shoot.

Clare04:28 --> 04:55

Well, unfortunately, I'm not. So, [laughs] so I have to lighten it all up, and it does take a toll on your hair. So that's why hydration is the key if you're blonde.

Triona04:56 --> 04:56

Mm.

Clare04:56 --> 04:59

And that gives you that light around your face, so you kind of can have the best of both worlds.

Triona04:59 --> 05:10

Do people often regret that when they, when they change hair color? I mean, I've seen people do it for their wedding. They've gone from brunette to blonde or vice versa,

Clare05:10 --> 05:10

Actually for the wedding

Triona05:10 --> 05:11

For the wedding?

Clare05:11 --> 05:39

Yeah. I never advise that, and I get so many people... So I work with a lot of clients and patients that I do plans. I'm, I'm doing a lot of, like, online plans with people as well,

Triona05:39 --> 05:39

Okay.

Clare05:39 --> 05:40

Put that prep in.

Triona05:40 --> 05:50

Things like wearing hair extensions, which are all the ra-... Like, I can't believe there's so many people that I know have hair extensions. I'm like, "What?

Clare05:50 --> 06:08

I think it really depends, again, on the application. I love hair extensions. I think they're amazing. I think wigs are amazing as well. I think anything

Triona06:08 --> 06:08

Mm

Clare06:08 --> 06:17

... is nice just to give you that little bit of thickness. But it's really the application. Once you're going with the right method, it's not too heavy on your hair,

Triona06:17 --> 06:17

Yeah

Clare06:17 --> 06:18

... it's gonna be in terrible condition.

Triona06:18 --> 06:19

Because do you remember-

Clare06:20 --> 06:20

So you have to get after it

Triona06:20 --> 06:29

... Clare, years ago, Victoria Beckham and all the mag- the magazines were terrible. They used to have all the close-up photographs of all around her hairline, where she

Clare06:30 --> 06:54

Yeah. Well, the thing is, they were probably too far forward is why you shouldn't see them. But, I mean, Victoria still wears extensions. I mean, if you look at any celebrity, if you

Triona06:54 --> 06:54

What?

Clare06:54 --> 06:58

... in the same day. No. So they're all wigs. When you see someone who's like Jennifer Lopez or-

Triona06:58 --> 07:00

I was just going to say, don't say Jennifer Lopez wears a wig.

Clare07:00 --> 07:10

Yeah, Jennifer Lopez wears pieces and wigs all the time. Every single celebrity. If you were to go through a magazine with me now, I would guarantee you that 90%, if not higher,

Triona07:10 --> 07:11

They have to change-

Clare07:11 --> 07:11

That's part of the-

Triona07:11 --> 07:12

... their look constantly.

Clare07:12 --> 07:25

They have to change their look constantly, and your hair will not be able to take that amount of pressure. So the best thing to do in those situations,

Triona07:25 --> 07:36

So Clare Devereux is a trichologist from hairhealthessentials.com, uh, which deals with all kinds of hair issues, scalp problems, hair loss, et cetera.

Classic Hits March 13 2026 - Segment 3
A Classic Hits Radio conversation where Triona speaks with Clare Devereux about her trichology clinics, her background in media, styling and red-carpet work, Hair Health Essentials, choosing the right hair products, shine, women’s hair confidence, dry scalp versus dandruff, and how people can book appointments.
March 13, 2026
Triona00:03 --> 00:22

Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. It's Trina Murray here. Something for the weekend. Clare Devereux is with us today. She is a trichologist dealing with all sorts of hair issues.

Clare00:23 --> 00:32

Yeah, well, you know, I, like so many people can't make it to come and see me personally. I do have clinics. I run c- clinics in Harley Street and I also run clinics here in Dublin as well.

Triona00:32 --> 00:33

Sorry, Harley Street in London?

Clare00:33 --> 00:34

Yes.

Triona00:34 --> 00:35

London, darling.

Clare00:35 --> 00:35

Yes, yes. [laughs]

Triona00:35 --> 00:36

You're not based in London though, are you?

Clare00:37 --> 00:38

No, I'm based here in Dublin, but I do fly over and back.

Triona00:38 --> 00:39

So you go over and back? Wow.

Clare00:39 --> 00:41

Yeah, I do. I go over and back, yeah. And I lived in LA-

Triona00:41 --> 00:42

So are there celebs and all?

Clare00:42 --> 00:49

... for a good few years. That's why I have a lot of clients I work with that work in film and, and all those kinda areas. So yeah, so I'm all o- I'm all around, you know.

Triona00:49 --> 00:51

Hang on. Back up, back up here now.

Clare00:51 --> 00:51

[laughs]

Triona00:51 --> 00:55

She just casually dropped the, "Yeah, I lived in LA for a..." So would there have been all celebs and everything?

Clare00:56 --> 01:07

Yeah. So my background, like I did a lot of makeover shows. You know, I did a lot of... I did all the Ireland AMs and the Exposés, and I worked for This Morning. And then I went to LA

Triona01:07 --> 01:07

Oh, right.

Clare01:07 --> 01:14

And I worked all the red carpets, do a lot of red carpet styling. So I suppose that's why with all the pieces when you ask me, I'm like, "Yes,

Triona01:14 --> 01:14

[laughs]

Clare01:14 --> 01:22

"... 'cause we, I work with them all the time, you know?" And my sister's an actress as well. I just did the IFTAs the other week and got her all dressed up. So I mean,

Triona01:22 --> 01:23

Sorry, again-

Clare01:23 --> 01:24

I work with all of that

Triona01:24 --> 01:24

... who's your sister?

Clare01:25 --> 01:27

My sister, Gemma-Leah Devereux, she's an actress.

Triona01:27 --> 01:27

Great.

Clare01:27 --> 01:30

So she's in Smother and a lot of those shows as well. Yeah, she's doing the-

Triona01:30 --> 01:30

How did I not know this? [laughs]

Clare01:31 --> 01:35

Yeah, The Rainmaker at the moment, uh, which is a, an American show. It's a John Grisham show, yeah.

Triona01:35 --> 01:35

Yeah.

Clare01:35 --> 01:47

So, um, she was presenting an IFTA the other week, so myself and my mom were down there, glam squad, you know, like she has us right there beside her helping her out with everything,

Triona01:47 --> 01:47

Yeah

Clare01:47 --> 02:13

... I've always worked beside my mom as well. That's that part of it. But I also feel so many women are going through like a bit of an identity crisis with their hair.

Triona02:14 --> 02:14

Yeah

Clare02:14 --> 02:23

... and different styles and a plan for the next 30 days or three months, whatever you kinda need. Washing your hair how many times a week, what products to be using on your hair, all

Triona02:23 --> 02:25

Wow. How can we get that?

Clare02:25 --> 02:40

So, well, my website is hairhealthessentials.com. So it'll be launching in the next two weeks, that particular plan, and yeah, and all the products, and there's loads of articles on that as well.

Triona02:40 --> 02:40

Yeah

Clare02:40 --> 02:42

... 'cause I like to write, you know.

Triona02:42 --> 02:57

Do you know what I struggle with, and I'd say a lot of, of people listening do? Knowing what products to buy. There's so many brands and different things,

Clare02:57 --> 03:00

Well, the thing is, I... First of all, paring it back is a huge thing.

Triona03:00 --> 03:00

Mm.

Clare03:00 --> 03:10

I think that everyone that comes to see me in the clinic, they're using way too many products and not the right thing, as I said. So you definitely need a good shampoo and a conditioner

Triona03:10 --> 03:11

Go on. Plug it sure while you're here, you might as well.

Clare03:11 --> 03:22

Well, Hair Health Essentials is my brand. So everything is natural and sulfate and sodium free, and it's, uh, definitely all the shampoos, conditioners.

Triona03:23 --> 03:23

Ooh.

Clare03:23 --> 03:26

I want you to try. And there's a mask, so you can start using a mask.

Triona03:26 --> 03:26

[laughs]

Clare03:26 --> 03:44

We're launching that. But, um, but yeah. So I mean, I just think it's finding the right products for your hair as well,

Triona03:44 --> 03:44

Mm

Clare03:44 --> 03:52

... it doesn't reflect the light. Dark hair reflects the light, so you always get a nice shine when you see someone with dark hair, you're like, "Oh, they're so shiny." Blonde,

Triona03:52 --> 03:52

Oh, come here, Claudia Winkleman.

Clare03:52 --> 03:52

Oh, amazing.

Triona03:52 --> 03:53

What's going on there?

Clare03:53 --> 03:53

Yeah.

Triona03:53 --> 03:54

It's like looking at, like-

Clare03:55 --> 03:55

Glass

Triona03:55 --> 03:56

... what's going on? Glass?

Clare03:56 --> 03:58

Isn't it amazing? Yeah, it's amazing. It's definitely well lit as well but it's-

Triona03:59 --> 04:00

Is that a wig? [laughs]

Clare04:00 --> 04:02

[laughs] You just never know. Her fringe is-

Triona04:02 --> 04:03

Imagine if we discovered-

Clare04:03 --> 04:03

... iconic

Triona04:03 --> 04:06

... after all these years that was a wig. [laughs]

Clare04:06 --> 04:22

[laughs] But you can see, that's what I mean, you know, dark hair gets that amazing shine, where blonde hair, it's harder to get that shine from it, and we both know that ourselves.

Triona04:22 --> 04:22

Yeah.

Clare04:22 --> 04:33

You just need to pare it down, and that's what we're gonna do with the plan. And when you come to see me as well, if you're coming in person to see me,

Triona04:33 --> 04:35

Yeah. Clare, do you see men as well, or it's mostly women?

Clare04:35 --> 04:57

Yeah, I do see men as well. Yeah, I definitely do, but I, I focus very much with women because I feel men have a lot of help out there when it,

Triona04:57 --> 04:57

Did you?

Clare04:58 --> 05:25

Yeah, my first product was for, like new moms, and I think that's where everything else has come from because I personally, even though I was, uh,

Triona05:25 --> 05:29

Yeah. It's like this business. People, like you become a counselor.

Clare05:29 --> 05:29

Yeah, yeah.

Triona05:29 --> 05:30

You become a counselor for your clients.

Clare05:31 --> 05:32

You really do. You really do.

Triona05:32 --> 05:32

Yeah.

Clare05:32 --> 05:48

And I think anyone who works in the hair industry will say the same thing, you know, that everyone wants to talk to you. You know, when your hair's not good, like we even said,

Triona05:48 --> 05:49

Wanting to socialize, everything, yeah

Clare05:49 --> 05:55

... yeah, you don't want to do it because you think everyone's looking at your hair, that everyone thinks that your hair is thin, they can see your scalp or whatever it is-

Triona05:55 --> 05:55

Yeah

Clare05:55 --> 06:04

... or your hair looks very dry, whatever it is. And really, people aren't probably looking at it the way you think they are. It's like

Triona06:04 --> 06:04

[laughs]

Clare06:04 --> 06:12

For me, it's about talking to someone and to really connecting the dots that way and telling them that there's hope because I think a lot of people feel this

Triona06:12 --> 06:12

Yeah.

Clare06:12 --> 06:20

And there is. There's loads you can do about it, and that's why there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and just always remember that.

Triona06:20 --> 06:27

Clare, can I ask you about, uh, something that we touched on very briefly earlier on? Dry scalp and dandruff, are they the same thing? Different things?

Clare06:27 --> 06:28

No, totally different thing.

Triona06:28 --> 06:28

Okay.

Clare06:28 --> 06:56

Yeah. So dandruff tends to be an oily condition because it tends to be that it's built up on your scalp. It's, it's, um, too much sebum that you're producing, so it's oil.

Triona06:56 --> 06:56

Okay.

Clare06:56 --> 07:15

So you need to really go and see somebody if you're suffering with bad dandruff or you're suffering with very dry, tight... You shouldn't have a dry, tight, itchy scalp,

Triona07:15 --> 07:15

Yeah

Clare07:15 --> 07:16

... "that I realized."

Triona07:16 --> 07:16

Yeah.

Clare07:16 --> 07:30

So that's not normal. So if you, if you are listening and you're suffering with that, that's not normal. And to be scratching your scalp all the time because you're causing then,

Triona07:30 --> 07:31

It's a big thing, isn't it?

Clare07:31 --> 07:31

Yeah.

Triona07:31 --> 07:37

And I mean, you know, if you have that, you're worried about wearing black clothes or your jacket's being covered. It's for men as well.

Clare07:37 --> 07:37

Absolutely.

Triona07:37 --> 07:42

The jacket's being covered and that, the embarrassment of people noticing that there's dandruff on your shoulders, et cetera.

Clare07:43 --> 07:52

Well, they're two different things, and that's what I'm saying, you really have to look at it, and sometimes you have to look at diet. It's a whole thing. It's like layers

Triona07:52 --> 07:52

Yeah.

Clare07:52 --> 08:03

We're all very unique and everything's very different. But if you're suffering with that, and it's definitely causing you problems and, and causing you to be,

Triona08:03 --> 08:03

Yeah

Clare08:03 --> 08:07

... it's definitely worth getting the right help. And once you do, you're on the right track.

Triona08:07 --> 08:07

It's, it's done.

Clare08:07 --> 08:09

You know what I mean? It's done. It's the right track-

Triona08:09 --> 08:09

Yeah

Clare08:09 --> 08:15

... and you know how to deal with it. So, you know, don't be afraid to get help with it for sure because there, there, there are answers out there,

Triona08:15 --> 08:31

Clare Devereux, trichologist in studio. She makes me look a state. She's so glamorous. Uh, thanks so much. We're, I'm gonna pop her picture up on Instagram now so you can have a look. No,

Clare08:31 --> 08:38

Oh, my own Instagram is claredevereuxstyle, and then, um, hairhealthessentials is, is the Instagram for the, the brand, and that's also the website as well.

Triona08:38 --> 08:42

So if people do want to book in to have their scalps seen to or their hair-

Clare08:42 --> 08:42

Yeah

Triona08:42 --> 08:43

... what's the best way to do it?

Clare08:43 --> 08:52

Yeah, hairhealthessentials.com. You can go on there, and you can make an appointment to see me either at my clinic, I'm out in Blackrock here in Dublin,

Triona08:52 --> 08:52

Okay.

Clare08:52 --> 08:53

So you can find me.

Triona08:53 --> 08:58

Great stuff. And especially for brides as well, if you're a bride and you're thinking, "God, I need to sort out the hair-"

Clare08:58 --> 08:58

Yes

Triona08:58 --> 09:00

... now is a good time to kind of start.

Clare09:00 --> 09:17

It's definitely a great time to start, and it's never too late. Like, even if you think if you're having a quick wedding or something and you think it's in six weeks, you know,

Triona09:17 --> 09:17

Fabulous.

Clare09:17 --> 09:18

Which is very important.

Triona09:18 --> 09:21

Great stuff. It's Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. Thanks for coming in.

Clare09:21 --> 09:21

Thank you.

Classic Hits March 18 2026 – Segment 1
A short radio conversation where Clare explains how she helps women with thinning hair, hair shedding, scalp concerns and hair health, while Triona asks about normal versus concerning hair loss, bald patches, hormonal changes, tight ponytails, breakage, and simple hairstyle changes that can help disguise or reduce the appearance of shedding.
March 18 2026
Clare00:00 --> 00:09

So I help women have the best hair of their life, Terina. I help with, uh, thinning hair, getting your hair thicker, um, and any scalp or hair conditions that you can think of,

Triona00:10 --> 00:16

A lot of women have this hair loss and thinning hair as they age. Is it a natural thing that will happen?

Clare00:16 --> 00:36

Um, I mean, it doesn't happen to everyone, you know. Some people are blessed and it doesn't happen. But there are so many women that do find their hair, at certain points, particularly with hormones,

Triona00:36 --> 00:36

Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Clare00:36 --> 00:38

... notice is the ponytail isn't as thick anymore.

Triona00:38 --> 00:40

And, like, things like getting bald patches.

Clare00:40 --> 00:46

If you notice that your hair is thinning or shedding, we all shed between 80 and 100 hairs a day. That is normal for absolutely everyone.

Triona00:46 --> 00:49

No, no, no, no. Have you, have you seen the chair behind me here? [laughs]

Clare00:49 --> 00:49

[laughs]

Triona00:49 --> 00:54

There's at least a thousand hairs on that. So what's normal and what's not normal then, in terms of hair loss?

Clare00:55 --> 01:25

All right. So patches, yeah, well, patches are usually a different thing, like a- alopecia. But all hair loss comes under the word alopecia, an umbrella. But, um, hair loss,

Triona01:25 --> 01:25

Mm.

Clare01:25 --> 01:52

So if you're noticing hair loss today, think back about three or four months and see what happened in your life. Did something happen? Had you had a baby? So three,

Triona01:52 --> 01:53

Oh, yeah.

Clare01:53 --> 02:11

And that's really what it is. So it's to really get your nutrition back. It's to get a balance again in your body. It's when your body's kind of out of balance

Triona02:11 --> 02:20

Okay. Um, a lot of girls are wearing their hair pulled very tightly in ponytails, et cetera, and buns, et cetera. Does that affect the hair?

Clare02:20 --> 02:35

100% it does, yeah. So a lot of people, yeah, you kind of see a trend for it and it, and it can look great, but the problem is that kind of pulling on your hair, particularly

Triona02:35 --> 02:35

Mm.

Clare02:35 --> 02:49

So it's really a good idea to avoid those. It might be okay to do it one day, but it's really not a good idea to be doing it for a whole week. And particularly

Triona02:49 --> 02:51

I don't think I could do it anyway, 'cause the headache.

Clare02:52 --> 02:52

I know.

Triona02:52 --> 02:53

I'd get such a headache if I had my hair tied-

Clare02:54 --> 02:54

Yeah

Triona02:54 --> 02:55

... up all the time like that.

Clare02:55 --> 02:57

I'd be exactly the same. I just wouldn't be able... And you have a lot of hair, you see-

Triona02:57 --> 02:57

Yeah

Clare02:57 --> 03:09

... so you'd find that weight on your head as well. And there's a lot of hairstyles as well that could cover hair loss. So for example, if you find your hair shedding a lot,

Triona03:09 --> 03:09

Mm.

Clare03:09 --> 03:15

Because sometimes when people wear their hair to a certain side, they tend to straighten their hair more on that area, so they're getting more breakage around there.

Triona03:15 --> 03:16

Yeah.

Clare03:16 --> 03:20

So change maybe the parting on your hair. That's a big thing. And if you've a lot of new hair around the front, maybe consider-

Classic Hits March 18 2026 – Segment 2
A short radio conversation where Triona and Clare discuss changing hair colour, why blonde hair needs extra hydration, why major colour changes before weddings are risky, and how extensions, wigs and hair pieces can add thickness safely when applied and maintained properly.
March 18 2026
Triona00:00 --> 00:35

I remember that so well when it was on Top of the Pops at the time. From 1994, Bon Jovi and Always. And on the show today we are joined by trichologist Clare Devereux. We

Clare00:35 --> 00:35

I know.

Triona00:35 --> 00:54

We just don't say. Just, "I'll ju- I'll just get the same as usual, same as..." And I was saying to you, Clare, how last weekend I had a little change in color 'cause I

Clare00:54 --> 00:55

I think we always end up-

Triona00:55 --> 00:55

But I know it's for the best [laughs]

Clare00:55 --> 01:02

... back blonde. We always end up back. We do it because we know it's for the best, but in our hearts we're... It's very hard when you're blonde. Anyone listening there that's blonde-

Triona01:02 --> 01:02

Yeah

Clare01:02 --> 01:19

... you, you know what we mean. The thing is, like, no matter how careful and how amazing a colorist is, and I'm a, a colorist myself, bleach is very,

Triona01:19 --> 01:19

Excuse me, I'm not dark naturally.

Clare01:19 --> 01:22

I mean, sorry, you're, you've just gone to the darker, slightly darker side this time.

Triona01:23 --> 01:23

Yes.

Clare01:23 --> 01:24

Sorry. You're normally naturally really blonde.

Triona01:24 --> 01:24

She, she-

Clare01:24 --> 01:52

Well, unfortunately I'm not [laughs] so, so I have to lighten it all up and it does take a toll on your hair. So that's why hydration is the key if you're blonde.

Triona01:53 --> 01:53

Mm.

Clare01:53 --> 01:56

And that gives you that light around your face, so you kinda can have the best of both worlds.

Triona01:56 --> 02:08

Do people often regret that when they, when they change hair color? I mean, I've seen people do it for their wedding. They've gone from brunette to blonde or vice versa,

Clare02:08 --> 02:08

I actually fully agree.

Triona02:08 --> 02:08

For the wedding.

Clare02:08 --> 02:37

Yeah. I never advise it. And I get so many people... So I work with a lot of clients and patients that I do plans. I'm, I'm doing a lot of, like, online plans with people as well,

Triona02:37 --> 02:38

Okay.

Clare02:38 --> 02:39

Put that prep in.

Triona02:39 --> 02:48

Things like wearing hair extensions, which are all the rag- Like, I can't believe there's so many people that I know have hair extensions. I'm like, "What?

Clare02:49 --> 03:07

I think it really depends, again, on the application. I love hair extensions. I think they're amazing. I think wigs are amazing as well. I think anything

Triona03:07 --> 03:07

Mm

Clare03:08 --> 03:17

... is nice just to give you that little bit of thickness, but it's really the application. Once you go with the right method, it's not too heavy on your hair, and you change them regularly.

Triona03:17 --> 03:17

Yeah

Clare03:17 --> 03:19

... you're gonna be in terrible condition. So you have to look after it.

Triona03:19 --> 03:29

'Cause do you remember, Clare, years ago, Victoria Beckham and all the mag- The magazines are terrible.

Clare03:30 --> 03:55

Yeah. Well, the thing is, they were probably too far forward is why you shouldn't see them, but, I mean, Victoria still wears extensions. I mean, if you look at any celebrity, if you

Triona03:55 --> 03:55

What?

Clare03:55 --> 03:59

No. So they're all wigs. When you see someone, even like Jennifer Lopez or-

Triona03:59 --> 04:01

I was just gonna go and say, "Don't say Jennifer Lopez wears a wig."

Clare04:01 --> 04:11

Yeah, Jennifer Lopez wears pieces and wigs all the time. Every single celebrity. If you were to go through a magazine with me now, I would guarantee you that 90%, if not higher,

Triona04:11 --> 04:13

They have to change their look constantly.

Clare04:13 --> 04:27

They have to change their look constantly, and your hair will not be able to take that amount of pressure. So the best thing to do in those situations,

Triona04:27 --> 04:35

Okay. Clare Devereux is a trichologist and, uh, talking to us today about your various hair issues, and more still to come on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio.

Classic Hits March 18 2026 – Segment 3
A Classic Hits Radio conversation where Triona speaks with Clare Devereux about Clare’s clinics in Dublin and Harley Street, her LA and red-carpet styling background, her work with women experiencing hair identity changes, Hair Health Essentials, simplifying product routines, choosing the right shampoo and conditioner, and the difference in shine between dark and blonde hair.
March 18 2026
Other00:00 --> 00:10

And we looked each day and night in the eye. And we still so young and we hope for more

Triona00:12 --> 00:24

Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. It's Trina Mara joined on the show today by trichologist Clare Devereux,

Clare00:24 --> 00:33

Yeah, well, you know, I... so many people can't make it to come and see me personally. I do have clinics. I run clinics in Harley Street and I also run clinics here in Dublin as well.

Triona00:33 --> 00:35

Sorry, Harley Street in London?

Clare00:35 --> 00:35

Yes.

Triona00:35 --> 00:36

London, darling.

Clare00:37 --> 00:37

[laughs] Oh, darling.

Triona00:37 --> 00:38

You're not based in London though, are you?

Clare00:38 --> 00:40

No, I'm based here in Dublin, but I do fly over and back.

Triona00:40 --> 00:41

So you go over and back? Wow.

Clare00:41 --> 00:43

Yeah, I do. I go over and back, yeah. And I was in LA-

Triona00:43 --> 00:44

So are these celebs and all?

Clare00:44 --> 00:51

... for a few years. That's why I have a lot of clients I work with that work in film and, and all those kind of areas. So yes, so I'm all o- I'm all around, you know?

Triona00:51 --> 00:52

Hang on. Back up, back up here now.

Clare00:53 --> 00:53

[laughs]

Triona00:53 --> 00:57

She just, uh, casually dropped the, "Yeah, I lived in LA for..." So would there have been all celebs and everything?

Clare00:57 --> 01:08

Yeah. So my background, like, I did a lot of makeover shows. You know, I did a lot of... I did all the Ireland AMs and the Exposé, and I worked for This Morning. And then I went to LA

Triona01:08 --> 01:09

Right.

Clare01:09 --> 01:16

And I worked all the red carpets, do a lot of red carpet styling. So I suppose that's why with all the pieces when you ask me, I'm like, "Yes,

Triona01:16 --> 01:16

[laughs]

Clare01:16 --> 01:24

... 'cause we, I work with them all the time, you know? And my sister's an actress as well, and just did the IFTAs the other week and got her all dressed up. So I mean, like,

Triona01:24 --> 01:25

Sorry, again

Clare01:25 --> 01:25

... I work with all of that.

Triona01:26 --> 01:26

Who's your sister?

Clare01:26 --> 01:28

My sister Gemma-Leah Devereux, she's an actress.

Triona01:28 --> 01:28

Great.

Clare01:28 --> 01:30

So she's in Smother and a lot of those shows as w-

Triona01:31 --> 01:32

How did I not know this? [laughs]

Clare01:32 --> 01:36

Yeah, she's doing The Rain- yeah, The Rainmaker at the moment, uh, which is an American show. It's a John Grisham show, yeah.

Triona01:36 --> 01:36

Yeah.

Clare01:37 --> 01:49

So, um, she was presenting an IFTA the other week, so myself and my mom were down there, glam squad, you know, like she has right there beside her helping her out with everything, with the clothes

Triona01:49 --> 01:49

Yeah

Clare01:49 --> 02:15

... I've always worked beside my mom as well. That's that part of it. But I also feel so many women are going through, like, a bit of an identity crisis with their hair.

Triona02:15 --> 02:15

Yeah

Clare02:15 --> 02:25

... and different styles and a plan for the next 30 days or three months, whatever you kinda need. Washing your hair how many times a week, what products to be using on your hair, all

Triona02:25 --> 02:26

Wow. How can we get that?

Clare02:26 --> 02:37

So, well, my website is hairhealthessentials.com, and there's loads of articles on that as well. So if you've anything with your hair, like if it's postpartum, menopause, any kind of hair loss,

Triona02:37 --> 02:37

Yeah

Clare02:37 --> 02:38

... 'cause I like to write, you know?

Triona02:39 --> 02:54

Do you know what I struggle with? And I'd say a lot of, of people listening do, knowing what products to buy. There's so many brands and different things,

Clare02:54 --> 02:57

Well, the thing is I... first of all, paring it back is a huge thing.

Triona02:57 --> 02:57

Mm.

Clare02:57 --> 03:07

I think that everyone that comes to see me in the clinic, they're using way too many products and not the right thing, as I said. So you definitely need a good shampoo and a conditioner

Triona03:07 --> 03:08

Go on. Plug it sure while you're here, you might as well.

Clare03:08 --> 03:19

Well, Hair Health Essentials is my brand. So everything is natural and sulfate and sodium-free, and it's, uh, definitely all the shampoos, conditioners.

Triona03:20 --> 03:20

Ooh.

Clare03:20 --> 03:23

I want you to try. And there's a mask, so you can start using a mask.

Triona03:23 --> 03:23

[laughs]

Clare03:23 --> 03:48

We're launching that. But, um, but yeah, so I mean, I just think it's finding the right products for your hair as well.

Triona03:48 --> 03:49

Well, come here, Claudia Winkleman.

Clare03:49 --> 03:49

Oh, amazing.

Triona03:49 --> 03:50

What's going on there?

Clare03:50 --> 03:50

Yeah.

Triona03:50 --> 03:51

It's like looking at, like-

Clare03:52 --> 03:52

Gloss

Triona03:52 --> 03:53

... what is going on? Gloss?

Clare03:53 --> 03:56

Isn't it amazing? Yeah, it's amazing. It's definitely well looked after, but it's-

Triona03:56 --> 03:57

Is that a wig? [laughs]

Clare03:57 --> 03:59

[laughs] You just never know. The, her fringe is iconic.

Triona03:59 --> 04:03

Imagine if we discovered after all these years that was a wig. [laughs]

Clare04:03 --> 04:19

[laughs] But you can see that's what I mean. You know, dark hair gets that amazing shine, where blonde hair, it's harder to get that shine from it, and we both know that ourself.

Triona04:19 --> 04:19

Yeah.

Clare04:19 --> 04:30

You just need to pare it down, and that's what we're gonna do with the plan. And when you come to see me as well, if you're coming in person to see me,

Triona04:30 --> 04:38

Yeah. Clare Devereux, trichologist with us on the show today. More still to come on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio.

Classic Hits March 18 2026 – Segment 4
A Classic Hits Radio conversation where Triona asks Clare Devereux about working with men and women, the emotional impact of hair concerns, dry scalp versus dandruff, when scalp symptoms should be checked, and how people can book an appointment with Clare at Hair Health Essentials.

I’ve confirmed the file is a full 60-minute MP3, so the key work is finding the exact interview boundaries rather than just trimming from the beginning. Reading ICHR-Mon-10 (1).mp3 Thought for 11m 48s Done — I extracted the conversation-only section and removed the non-conversation break between the two parts. Download the Clare & Triona conversation MP3 I isolated the clear conversation blocks at roughly 42:43–45:30 and 48:55–52:46. You’re right — that means I cut the wrong material, not cleanly the Clare–Triona exchange. I’m going back to the original MP3 and will make a corrected version by identifying the actual speaker/conversation boundaries rather than relying on the earlier rough segment. Thought for 16m 48s You’re right — sorry, the first export included extra material. I’ve made a tighter corrected cut, removing the earlier non-Clare/Triona section and trimming to the main exchange only: Download the corrected Clare & Triona conversation MP3 This version is about 3 minutes 21 seconds, from roughly 49:08–52:29 of the original file. ICHR-Mon-11.mp3 File ICHR-Mon-12.mp3 File ICHR-Mon-13.mp3 File Great same foe these 3 please Absolutely — I’ll treat these as three separate shows and produce three cleaned MP3s, each containing only the Clare–Triona conversation section. 00:03 --> 00:22
Triona: Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. It's Trina Murray here. Something for the weekend. Clare Devereux is with us today. She is a trichologist dealing with all sorts of hair issues.
00:23 --> 00:32
Clare: Yeah, well, you know, I, like so many people can't make it to come and see me personally. I do have clinics. I run c- clinics in Harley Street and I also run clinics here in Dublin as well.
00:32 --> 00:33
Triona: Sorry, Harley Street in London?
00:33 --> 00:34
Clare: Yes.
00:34 --> 00:35
Triona: London, darling.
00:35 --> 00:35
Clare: Yes, yes. [laughs]
00:35 --> 00:36
Triona: You're not based in London though, are you?
00:37 --> 00:38
Clare: No, I'm based here in Dublin, but I do fly over and back.
00:38 --> 00:39
Triona: So you go over and back? Wow.
00:39 --> 00:41
Clare: Yeah, I do. I go over and back, yeah. And I lived in LA-
00:41 --> 00:42
Triona: So are there celebs and all?
00:42 --> 00:49
Clare: ... for a good few years. That's why I have a lot of clients I work with that work in film and, and all those kinda areas. So yeah, so I'm all o- I'm all around, you know.
00:49 --> 00:51
Triona: Hang on. Back up, back up here now.
00:51 --> 00:51
Clare: [laughs]
00:51 --> 00:55
Triona: She just casually dropped the, "Yeah, I lived in LA for a..." So would there have been all celebs and everything?
00:56 --> 01:07
Clare: Yeah. So my background, like I did a lot of makeover shows. You know, I did a lot of... I did all the Ireland AMs and the Exposés, and I worked for This Morning. And then I went to LA
01:07 --> 01:07
Triona: Oh, right.
01:07 --> 01:14
Clare: And I worked all the red carpets, do a lot of red carpet styling. So I suppose that's why with all the pieces when you ask me, I'm like, "Yes,
01:14 --> 01:14
Triona: [laughs]
01:14 --> 01:22
Clare: "... 'cause we, I work with them all the time, you know?" And my sister's an actress as well. I just did the IFTAs the other week and got her all dressed up. So I mean,
01:22 --> 01:23
Triona: Sorry, again-
01:23 --> 01:24
Clare: I work with all of that
01:24 --> 01:24
Triona: ... who's your sister?
01:25 --> 01:27
Clare: My sister, Gemma-Leah Devereux, she's an actress.
01:27 --> 01:27
Triona: Great.
01:27 --> 01:30
Clare: So she's in Smother and a lot of those shows as well. Yeah, she's doing the-
01:30 --> 01:30
Triona: How did I not know this? [laughs]
01:31 --> 01:35
Clare: Yeah, The Rainmaker at the moment, uh, which is a, an American show. It's a John Grisham show, yeah.
01:35 --> 01:35
Triona: Yeah.
01:35 --> 01:47
Clare: So, um, she was presenting an IFTA the other week, so myself and my mom were down there, glam squad, you know, like she has us right there beside her helping her out with everything,
01:47 --> 01:47
Triona: Yeah
01:47 --> 02:13
Clare: ... I've always worked beside my mom as well. That's that part of it. But I also feel so many women are going through like a bit of an identity crisis with their hair.
02:14 --> 02:14
Triona: Yeah
02:14 --> 02:23
Clare: ... and different styles and a plan for the next 30 days or three months, whatever you kinda need. Washing your hair how many times a week, what products to be using on your hair, all
02:23 --> 02:25
Triona: Wow. How can we get that?
02:25 --> 02:40
Clare: So, well, my website is hairhealthessentials.com. So it'll be launching in the next two weeks, that particular plan, and yeah, and all the products, and there's loads of articles on that as well.
02:40 --> 02:40
Triona: Yeah
02:40 --> 02:42
Clare: ... 'cause I like to write, you know.
02:42 --> 02:57
Triona: Do you know what I struggle with, and I'd say a lot of, of people listening do? Knowing what products to buy. There's so many brands and different things,
02:57 --> 03:00
Clare: Well, the thing is, I... First of all, paring it back is a huge thing.
03:00 --> 03:00
Triona: Mm.
03:00 --> 03:10
Clare: I think that everyone that comes to see me in the clinic, they're using way too many products and not the right thing, as I said. So you definitely need a good shampoo and a conditioner
03:10 --> 03:11
Triona: Go on. Plug it sure while you're here, you might as well.
03:11 --> 03:22
Clare: Well, Hair Health Essentials is my brand. So everything is natural and sulfate and sodium free, and it's, uh, definitely all the shampoos, conditioners.
03:23 --> 03:23
Triona: Ooh.
03:23 --> 03:26
Clare: I want you to try. And there's a mask, so you can start using a mask.
03:26 --> 03:26
Triona: [laughs]
03:26 --> 03:44
Clare: We're launching that. But, um, but yeah. So I mean, I just think it's finding the right products for your hair as well,
03:44 --> 03:44
Triona: Mm
03:44 --> 03:52
Clare: ... it doesn't reflect the light. Dark hair reflects the light, so you always get a nice shine when you see someone with dark hair, you're like, "Oh, they're so shiny." Blonde,
03:52 --> 03:52
Triona: Oh, come here, Claudia Winkleman.
03:52 --> 03:52
Clare: Oh, amazing.
03:52 --> 03:53
Triona: What's going on there?
03:53 --> 03:53
Clare: Yeah.
03:53 --> 03:54
Triona: It's like looking at, like-
03:55 --> 03:55
Clare: Glass
03:55 --> 03:56
Triona: ... what's going on? Glass?
03:56 --> 03:58
Clare: Isn't it amazing? Yeah, it's amazing. It's definitely well lit as well but it's-
03:59 --> 04:00
Triona: Is that a wig? [laughs]
04:00 --> 04:02
Clare: [laughs] You just never know. Her fringe is-
04:02 --> 04:03
Triona: Imagine if we discovered-
04:03 --> 04:03
Clare: ... iconic
04:03 --> 04:06
Triona: ... after all these years that was a wig. [laughs]
04:06 --> 04:22
Clare: [laughs] But you can see, that's what I mean, you know, dark hair gets that amazing shine, where blonde hair, it's harder to get that shine from it, and we both know that ourselves.
04:22 --> 04:22
Triona: Yeah.
04:22 --> 04:33
Clare: You just need to pare it down, and that's what we're gonna do with the plan. And when you come to see me as well, if you're coming in person to see me,
04:33 --> 04:35
Triona: Yeah. Clare, do you see men as well, or it's mostly women?
04:35 --> 04:57
Clare: Yeah, I do see men as well. Yeah, I definitely do, but I, I focus very much with women because I feel men have a lot of help out there when it,
04:57 --> 04:57
Triona: Did you?
04:58 --> 05:25
Clare: Yeah, my first product was for, like new moms, and I think that's where everything else has come from because I personally, even though I was, uh,
05:25 --> 05:29
Triona: Yeah. It's like this business. People, like you become a counselor.
05:29 --> 05:29
Clare: Yeah, yeah.
05:29 --> 05:30
Triona: You become a counselor for your clients.
05:31 --> 05:32
Clare: You really do. You really do.
05:32 --> 05:32
Triona: Yeah.
05:32 --> 05:48
Clare: And I think anyone who works in the hair industry will say the same thing, you know, that everyone wants to talk to you. You know, when your hair's not good, like we even said,
05:48 --> 05:49
Triona: Wanting to socialize, everything, yeah
05:49 --> 05:55
Clare: ... yeah, you don't want to do it because you think everyone's looking at your hair, that everyone thinks that your hair is thin, they can see your scalp or whatever it is-
05:55 --> 05:55
Triona: Yeah
05:55 --> 06:04
Clare: ... or your hair looks very dry, whatever it is. And really, people aren't probably looking at it the way you think they are. It's like
06:04 --> 06:04
Triona: [laughs]
06:04 --> 06:12
Clare: For me, it's about talking to someone and to really connecting the dots that way and telling them that there's hope because I think a lot of people feel this
06:12 --> 06:12
Triona: Yeah.
06:12 --> 06:20
Clare: And there is. There's loads you can do about it, and that's why there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and just always remember that.
06:20 --> 06:27
Triona: Clare, can I ask you about, uh, something that we touched on very briefly earlier on? Dry scalp and dandruff, are they the same thing? Different things?
06:27 --> 06:28
Clare: No, totally different thing.
06:28 --> 06:28
Triona: Okay.
06:28 --> 06:56
Clare: Yeah. So dandruff tends to be an oily condition because it tends to be that it's built up on your scalp. It's, it's, um, too much sebum that you're producing, so it's oil.
06:56 --> 06:56
Triona: Okay.
06:56 --> 07:15
Clare: So you need to really go and see somebody if you're suffering with bad dandruff or you're suffering with very dry, tight... You shouldn't have a dry, tight, itchy scalp,
07:15 --> 07:15
Triona: Yeah
07:15 --> 07:16
Clare: ... "that I realized."
07:16 --> 07:16
Triona: Yeah.
07:16 --> 07:30
Clare: So that's not normal. So if you, if you are listening and you're suffering with that, that's not normal. And to be scratching your scalp all the time because you're causing then,
07:30 --> 07:31
Triona: It's a big thing, isn't it?
07:31 --> 07:31
Clare: Yeah.
07:31 --> 07:37
Triona: And I mean, you know, if you have that, you're worried about wearing black clothes or your jacket's being covered. It's for men as well.
07:37 --> 07:37
Clare: Absolutely.
07:37 --> 07:42
Triona: The jacket's being covered and that, the embarrassment of people noticing that there's dandruff on your shoulders, et cetera.
07:43 --> 07:52
Clare: Well, they're two different things, and that's what I'm saying, you really have to look at it, and sometimes you have to look at diet. It's a whole thing. It's like layers
07:52 --> 07:52
Triona: Yeah.
07:52 --> 08:03
Clare: We're all very unique and everything's very different. But if you're suffering with that, and it's definitely causing you problems and, and causing you to be,
08:03 --> 08:03
Triona: Yeah
08:03 --> 08:07
Clare: ... it's definitely worth getting the right help. And once you do, you're on the right track.
08:07 --> 08:07
Triona: It's, it's done.
08:07 --> 08:09
Clare: You know what I mean? It's done. It's the right track-
08:09 --> 08:09
Triona: Yeah
08:09 --> 08:15
Clare: ... and you know how to deal with it. So, you know, don't be afraid to get help with it for sure because there, there, there are answers out there,
08:15 --> 08:31
Triona: Clare Devereux, trichologist in studio. She makes me look a state. She's so glamorous. Uh, thanks so much. We're, I'm gonna pop her picture up on Instagram now so you can have a look. No,
08:31 --> 08:38
Clare: Oh, my own Instagram is claredevereuxstyle, and then, um, hairhealthessentials is, is the Instagram for the, the brand, and that's also the website as well.
08:38 --> 08:42
Triona: So if people do want to book in to have their scalps seen to or their hair-
08:42 --> 08:42
Clare: Yeah
08:42 --> 08:43
Triona: ... what's the best way to do it?
08:43 --> 08:52
Clare: Yeah, hairhealthessentials.com. You can go on there, and you can make an appointment to see me either at my clinic, I'm out in Blackrock here in Dublin,
08:52 --> 08:52
Triona: Okay.
08:52 --> 08:53
Clare: So you can find me.
08:53 --> 08:58
Triona: Great stuff. And especially for brides as well, if you're a bride and you're thinking, "God, I need to sort out the hair-"
08:58 --> 08:58
Clare: Yes
08:58 --> 09:00
Triona: ... now is a good time to kind of start.
09:00 --> 09:17
Clare: It's definitely a great time to start, and it's never too late. Like, even if you think if you're having a quick wedding or something and you think it's in six weeks, you know,
09:17 --> 09:17
Triona: Fabulous.
09:17 --> 09:18
Clare: Which is very important.
09:18 --> 09:21
Triona: Great stuff. It's Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. Thanks for coming in.
09:21 --> 09:21
Clare: Thank you.
The html style is differnet to the last 2 it should be the same You’re right — I’ll rebuild this one using the same HTML pattern as the previous two, rather than the slightly different card layout I used. I found the mismatch: this third file used a left-border block style. I’m switching it to the same full-page white-card transcript style used on the previous version. Thought for 27s Corrected — this version now matches the previous white-card greyscale style. Download the corrected matching HTML transcript <!doctype html>

You really do. You really do.

Triona05:32 --> 05:32

Yeah.

Clare05:32 --> 05:48

And I think anyone who works in the hair industry will say the same thing, you know, that everyone wants to talk to you. You know, when your hair's not good, like we even said,

Triona05:48 --> 05:49

Wanting to socialize, everything, yeah

Clare05:49 --> 05:55

... yeah, you don't want to do it because you think everyone's looking at your hair, that everyone thinks that your hair is thin, they can see your scalp or whatever it is-

Triona05:55 --> 05:55

Yeah

Clare05:55 --> 06:04

... or your hair looks very dry, whatever it is. And really, people aren't probably looking at it the way you think they are. It's like

Triona06:04 --> 06:04

[laughs]

Clare06:04 --> 06:12

For me, it's about talking to someone and to really connecting the dots that way and telling them that there's hope because I think a lot of people feel this

Triona06:12 --> 06:12

Yeah.

Clare06:12 --> 06:20

And there is. There's loads you can do about it, and that's why there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and just always remember that.

Triona06:20 --> 06:27

Clare, can I ask you about, uh, something that we touched on very briefly earlier on? Dry scalp and dandruff, are they the same thing? Different things?

Clare06:27 --> 06:28

No, totally different thing.

Triona06:28 --> 06:28

Okay.

Clare06:28 --> 06:56

Yeah. So dandruff tends to be an oily condition because it tends to be that it's built up on your scalp. It's, it's, um, too much sebum that you're producing, so it's oil.

Triona06:56 --> 06:56

Okay.

Clare06:56 --> 07:15

So you need to really go and see somebody if you're suffering with bad dandruff or you're suffering with very dry, tight... You shouldn't have a dry, tight, itchy scalp,

Triona07:15 --> 07:15

Yeah

Clare07:15 --> 07:16

... "that I realized."

Triona07:16 --> 07:16

Yeah.

Clare07:16 --> 07:30

So that's not normal. So if you, if you are listening and you're suffering with that, that's not normal. And to be scratching your scalp all the time because you're causing then,

Triona07:30 --> 07:31

It's a big thing, isn't it?

Clare07:31 --> 07:31

Yeah.

Triona07:31 --> 07:37

And I mean, you know, if you have that, you're worried about wearing black clothes or your jacket's being covered. It's for men as well.

Clare07:37 --> 07:37

Absolutely.

Triona07:37 --> 07:42

The jacket's being covered and that, the embarrassment of people noticing that there's dandruff on your shoulders, et cetera.

Clare07:43 --> 07:52

Well, they're two different things, and that's what I'm saying, you really have to look at it, and sometimes you have to look at diet. It's a whole thing. It's like layers

Triona07:52 --> 07:52

Yeah.

Clare07:52 --> 08:03

We're all very unique and everything's very different. But if you're suffering with that, and it's definitely causing you problems and, and causing you to be,

Triona08:03 --> 08:03

Yeah

Clare08:03 --> 08:07

... it's definitely worth getting the right help. And once you do, you're on the right track.

Triona08:07 --> 08:07

It's, it's done.

Clare08:07 --> 08:09

You know what I mean? It's done. It's the right track-

Triona08:09 --> 08:09

Yeah

Clare08:09 --> 08:15

... and you know how to deal with it. So, you know, don't be afraid to get help with it for sure because there, there, there are answers out there,

Triona08:15 --> 08:31

Clare Devereux, trichologist in studio. She makes me look a state. She's so glamorous. Uh, thanks so much. We're, I'm gonna pop her picture up on Instagram now so you can have a look. No,

Clare08:31 --> 08:38

Oh, my own Instagram is claredevereuxstyle, and then, um, hairhealthessentials is, is the Instagram for the, the brand, and that's also the website as well.

Triona08:38 --> 08:42

So if people do want to book in to have their scalps seen to or their hair-

Clare08:42 --> 08:42

Yeah

Triona08:42 --> 08:43

... what's the best way to do it?

Clare08:43 --> 08:52

Yeah, hairhealthessentials.com. You can go on there, and you can make an appointment to see me either at my clinic, I'm out in Blackrock here in Dublin,

Triona08:52 --> 08:52

Okay.

Clare08:52 --> 08:53

So you can find me.

Triona08:53 --> 08:58

Great stuff. And especially for brides as well, if you're a bride and you're thinking, "God, I need to sort out the hair-"

Clare08:58 --> 08:58

Yes

Triona08:58 --> 09:00

... now is a good time to kind of start.

Clare09:00 --> 09:17

It's definitely a great time to start, and it's never too late. Like, even if you think if you're having a quick wedding or something and you think it's in six weeks, you know,

Triona09:17 --> 09:17

Fabulous.

Clare09:17 --> 09:18

Which is very important.

Triona09:18 --> 09:21

Great stuff. It's Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. Thanks for coming in.

Clare09:21 --> 09:21

Thank you.

transcript (1)(1).txt Document Same please for this html and description I’ll use the same matched greyscale inline HTML style, with speaker labels adjusted for this file where Clare is speaker_0 and Triona is speaker_1. Thought for 12s Done — here is the matching greyscale inline HTML version: Download the updated HTML transcript Description: A short radio conversation where Clare explains how she helps women with thinning hair, hair shedding, scalp concerns and hair health, while Triona asks about normal versus concerning hair loss, bald patches, hormonal changes, tight ponytails, breakage, and simple hairstyle changes that can help disguise or reduce the appearance of shedding. <!doctype html>

Clare00:00 --> 00:09

So I help women have the best hair of their life, Terina. I help with, uh, thinning hair, getting your hair thicker, um, and any scalp or hair conditions that you can think of,

Triona00:10 --> 00:16

A lot of women have this hair loss and thinning hair as they age. Is it a natural thing that will happen?

Clare00:16 --> 00:36

Um, I mean, it doesn't happen to everyone, you know. Some people are blessed and it doesn't happen. But there are so many women that do find their hair, at certain points, particularly with hormones,

Triona00:36 --> 00:36

Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah

Clare00:36 --> 00:38

... notice is the ponytail isn't as thick anymore.

Triona00:38 --> 00:40

And, like, things like getting bald patches.

Clare00:40 --> 00:46

If you notice that your hair is thinning or shedding, we all shed between 80 and 100 hairs a day. That is normal for absolutely everyone.

Triona00:46 --> 00:49

No, no, no, no. Have you, have you seen the chair behind me here? [laughs]

Clare00:49 --> 00:49

[laughs]

Triona00:49 --> 00:54

There's at least a thousand hairs on that. So what's normal and what's not normal then, in terms of hair loss?

Clare00:55 --> 01:25

All right. So patches, yeah, well, patches are usually a different thing, like a- alopecia. But all hair loss comes under the word alopecia, an umbrella. But, um, hair loss,

Triona01:25 --> 01:25

Mm.

Clare01:25 --> 01:52

So if you're noticing hair loss today, think back about three or four months and see what happened in your life. Did something happen? Had you had a baby? So three,

Triona01:52 --> 01:53

Oh, yeah.

Clare01:53 --> 02:11

And that's really what it is. So it's to really get your nutrition back. It's to get a balance again in your body. It's when your body's kind of out of balance

Triona02:11 --> 02:20

Okay. Um, a lot of girls are wearing their hair pulled very tightly in ponytails, et cetera, and buns, et cetera. Does that affect the hair?

Clare02:20 --> 02:35

100% it does, yeah. So a lot of people, yeah, you kind of see a trend for it and it, and it can look great, but the problem is that kind of pulling on your hair, particularly

Triona02:35 --> 02:35

Mm.

Clare02:35 --> 02:49

So it's really a good idea to avoid those. It might be okay to do it one day, but it's really not a good idea to be doing it for a whole week. And particularly

Triona02:49 --> 02:51

I don't think I could do it anyway, 'cause the headache.

Clare02:52 --> 02:52

I know.

Triona02:52 --> 02:53

I'd get such a headache if I had my hair tied-

Clare02:54 --> 02:54

Yeah

Triona02:54 --> 02:55

... up all the time like that.

Clare02:55 --> 02:57

I'd be exactly the same. I just wouldn't be able... And you have a lot of hair, you see-

Triona02:57 --> 02:57

Yeah

Clare02:57 --> 03:09

... so you'd find that weight on your head as well. And there's a lot of hairstyles as well that could cover hair loss. So for example, if you find your hair shedding a lot,

Triona03:09 --> 03:09

Mm.

Clare03:09 --> 03:15

Because sometimes when people wear their hair to a certain side, they tend to straighten their hair more on that area, so they're getting more breakage around there.

Triona03:15 --> 03:16

Yeah.

Clare03:16 --> 03:20

So change maybe the parting on your hair. That's a big thing. And if you've a lot of new hair around the front, maybe consider-

transcript(2).txt Document I’ll apply the same matched greyscale inline HTML style to this transcript and give you the short description as well. Thought for 4s Done — here is the matching greyscale inline HTML version: Download the updated HTML transcript Description: A short radio conversation where Triona and Clare discuss changing hair colour, why blonde hair needs extra hydration, why major colour changes before weddings are risky, and how extensions, wigs and hair pieces can add thickness safely when applied and maintained properly. <!doctype html>

Triona00:00 --> 00:35

I remember that so well when it was on Top of the Pops at the time. From 1994, Bon Jovi and Always. And on the show today we are joined by trichologist Clare Devereux. We

Clare00:35 --> 00:35

I know.

Triona00:35 --> 00:54

We just don't say. Just, "I'll ju- I'll just get the same as usual, same as..." And I was saying to you, Clare, how last weekend I had a little change in color 'cause I

Clare00:54 --> 00:55

I think we always end up-

Triona00:55 --> 00:55

But I know it's for the best [laughs]

Clare00:55 --> 01:02

... fat blonde. We always end up fat. We do it because we know it's for the best, but in our hearts we're... It's very hard when you're blonde. Anyone listening there that's blonde-

Triona01:02 --> 01:02

Yeah

Clare01:02 --> 01:19

... you, you know what we mean. The thing is, like, no matter how careful and how amazing a colorist is, and I'm a, a colorist myself, bleach is very,

Triona01:19 --> 01:19

Excuse me, I'm not dark naturally.

Clare01:19 --> 01:22

I mean, sorry, you're, you've just gone to the darker, slightly darker side this time.

Triona01:23 --> 01:23

Yes.

Clare01:23 --> 01:24

Sorry. You're normally naturally really blonde.

Triona01:24 --> 01:24

She, she-

Clare01:24 --> 01:52

Well, unfortunately I'm not [laughs] so, so I have to lighten it all up and it does take a toll on your hair. So that's why hydration is the key if you're blonde.

Triona01:53 --> 01:53

Mm.

Clare01:53 --> 01:56

And that gives you that light around your face, so you kinda can have the best of both worlds.

Triona01:56 --> 02:08

Do people often regret that when they, when they change hair color? I mean, I've seen people do it for their wedding. They've gone from brunette to blonde or vice versa,

Clare02:08 --> 02:08

I actually fully agree.

Triona02:08 --> 02:08

For the wedding.

Clare02:08 --> 02:37

Yeah. I never advise it. And I get so many people... So I work with a lot of clients and patients that I do plans. I'm, I'm doing a lot of, like, online plans with people as well,

Triona02:37 --> 02:38

Okay.

Clare02:38 --> 02:39

Put that prep in.

Triona02:39 --> 02:48

Things like wearing hair extensions, which are all the rag- Like, I can't believe there's so many people that I know have hair extensions. I'm like, "What?

Clare02:49 --> 03:07

I think it really depends, again, on the application. I love hair extensions. I think they're amazing. I think wigs are amazing as well. I think anything

Triona03:07 --> 03:07

Mm

Clare03:08 --> 03:17

... is nice just to give you that little bit of thickness, but it's really the application. Once you go with the right method, it's not too heavy on your hair, and you change them regularly.

Triona03:17 --> 03:17

Yeah

Clare03:17 --> 03:19

... you're gonna be in terrible condition. So you have to look after it.

Triona03:19 --> 03:29

'Cause do you remember, Clare, years ago, Victoria Beckham and all the mag- The magazines are terrible.

Clare03:30 --> 03:55

Yeah. Well, the thing is, they were probably too far forward is why you shouldn't see them, but, I mean, Victoria still wears extensions. I mean, if you look at any celebrity, if you

Triona03:55 --> 03:55

What?

Clare03:55 --> 03:59

No. So they're all wigs. When you see someone, even like Jennifer Lopez or-

Triona03:59 --> 04:01

I was just gonna go and say, "Don't say Jennifer Lopez wears a wig."

Clare04:01 --> 04:11

Yeah, Jennifer Lopez wears pieces and wigs all the time. Every single celebrity. If you were to go through a magazine with me now, I would guarantee you that 90%, if not higher,

Triona04:11 --> 04:13

They have to change their look constantly.

Clare04:13 --> 04:27

They have to change their look constantly, and your hair will not be able to take that amount of pressure. So the best thing to do in those situations,

Triona04:27 --> 04:35

Okay. Clare Devereux is a trichologist and, uh, talking to us today about your various hair issues, and more still to come on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio.

transcript (1)(2).txt Document I’ll make the same matching greyscale inline HTML version for this transcript too, and include a short description. Thought for 5s Done — here is the matching greyscale inline HTML version: Download the updated HTML transcript Description: A Classic Hits Radio conversation where Triona speaks with Clare Devereux about Clare’s clinics in Dublin and Harley Street, her LA and red-carpet styling background, her work with women experiencing hair identity changes, Hair Health Essentials, simplifying product routines, choosing the right shampoo and conditioner, and the difference in shine between dark and blonde hair. <!doctype html>

Other00:00 --> 00:10

And we looked each day and night in the eye. And we still so young and we hope for more

Triona00:12 --> 00:24

Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. It's Trina Mara joined on the show today by trichologist Clare Devereux, uh,

Clare00:24 --> 00:33

Yeah, well, you know, I, I... so many people can't make it to come and see me personally. I do have clinics. I run c- clinics in Harley Street and I also run clinics here in Dublin as well.

Triona00:33 --> 00:35

Sorry, Harley Street in London?

Clare00:35 --> 00:35

Yes.

Triona00:35 --> 00:36

London, darling.

Clare00:37 --> 00:37

[laughs] Oh, darling.

Triona00:37 --> 00:38

You're not based in London though, are you?

Clare00:38 --> 00:40

No, I'm based here in Dublin, but I do fly over and back.

Triona00:40 --> 00:41

So you go over and back? Wow.

Clare00:41 --> 00:43

Yeah, I do. I go over and back, yeah. And I was in LA-

Triona00:43 --> 00:44

So are these celebs and all?

Clare00:44 --> 00:51

... for a few years. That's why I have a lot of clients I work with that work in film and, and all those kind of areas. So yes, so I'm all o- I'm all around, you know?

Triona00:51 --> 00:52

Hang on. Back up, back up here now.

Clare00:53 --> 00:53

[laughs]

Triona00:53 --> 00:57

She just, uh, casually dropped the, "Yeah, I lived in LA for..." So would there have been all celebs and everything?

Clare00:57 --> 01:08

Yeah. So my background, like, I did a lot of makeover shows. You know, I did a lot of... I did all the Ireland AMs and the Exposés, and I worked for This Morning. And then I went to LA

Triona01:08 --> 01:09

Right.

Clare01:09 --> 01:16

And I worked all the red carpets, do a lot of red carpet styling. So I suppose that's why with all the pieces when you ask me, I'm like, "Yes,

Triona01:16 --> 01:16

[laughs]

Clare01:16 --> 01:24

... 'cause we, I work with them all the time, you know? And my sister's an actress as well, and just did the IFTAs the other week and got her all dressed up. So I mean, like,

Triona01:24 --> 01:25

Sorry, again

Clare01:25 --> 01:25

... I work with all of that.

Triona01:26 --> 01:26

Who's your sister?

Clare01:26 --> 01:28

My sister Gemma-Leah Devereux, she's an actress.

Triona01:28 --> 01:28

Great.

Clare01:28 --> 01:30

So she's in Smother and a lot of those shows as w-

Triona01:31 --> 01:32

How did I not know this? [laughs]

Clare01:32 --> 01:36

Yeah, she's doing The Rain- yeah, The Rainmaker at the moment, uh, which is an American show. It's a John Grisham show, yeah.

Triona01:36 --> 01:36

Yeah.

Clare01:37 --> 01:49

So, um, she was presenting an IFTA the other week, so myself and my mom were down there, glam squad, you know, like she has right there beside her helping her out with everything, with the clothes

Triona01:49 --> 01:49

Yeah

Clare01:49 --> 02:15

... I've always worked beside my mom as well. That's that part of it. But I also feel so many women are going through, like, a bit of an identity crisis with their hair.

Triona02:15 --> 02:15

Yeah

Clare02:15 --> 02:25

... and different styles and a plan for the next 30 days or three months, whatever you kinda need. Washing your hair how many times a week, what products to be using on your hair, all

Triona02:25 --> 02:26

Wow. How can we get that?

Clare02:26 --> 02:37

So, well, my website is hairhealthessentials.com, and there's loads of articles on that as well. So if you've anything with your hair, like if it's postpartum, menopause, any kind of hair loss,

Triona02:37 --> 02:37

Yeah

Clare02:37 --> 02:38

... 'cause I like to write, you know?

Triona02:39 --> 02:54

Do you know what I struggle with? And I'd say a lot of, of people listening do, knowing what products to buy. There's so many brands and different things,

Clare02:54 --> 02:57

Well, the thing is I... first of all, paring it back is a huge thing.

Triona02:57 --> 02:57

Mm.

Clare02:57 --> 03:07

I think that everyone that comes to see me in the clinic, they're using way too many products and not the right thing, as I said. So you definitely need a good shampoo and a conditioner

Triona03:07 --> 03:08

Go on. Plug it sure while you're here, you might as well.

Clare03:08 --> 03:19

Well, Hair Health Essentials is my brand. So everything is natural and sulfate and sodium-free, and it's, uh, definitely all the shampoos, conditioners.

Triona03:20 --> 03:20

Ooh.

Clare03:20 --> 03:23

I want you to try. And there's a mask, so you can start using a mask.

Triona03:23 --> 03:23

[laughs]

Clare03:23 --> 03:48

We're launching that. But, um, but yeah, so I mean, I just think it's finding the right products for your hair as well.

Triona03:48 --> 03:49

Well, come here, Claudia Winkleman.

Clare03:49 --> 03:49

Oh, amazing.

Triona03:49 --> 03:50

What's going on there?

Clare03:50 --> 03:50

Yeah.

Triona03:50 --> 03:51

It's like looking at, like-

Clare03:52 --> 03:52

Gloss

Triona03:52 --> 03:53

... what is going on? Gloss?

Clare03:53 --> 03:56

Isn't it amazing? Yeah, it's amazing. It's definitely well looked after, but it's-

Triona03:56 --> 03:57

Is that a wig? [laughs]

Clare03:57 --> 03:59

[laughs] You just never know. The, her fringe is iconic.

Triona03:59 --> 04:03

Imagine if we discovered after all these years that was a wig. [laughs]

Clare04:03 --> 04:19

[laughs] But you can see that's what I mean. You know, dark hair gets that amazing shine, where blonde hair, it's harder to get that shine from it, and we both know that ourself.

Triona04:19 --> 04:19

Yeah.

Clare04:19 --> 04:30

You just need to pare it down, and that's what we're gonna do with the plan. And when you come to see me as well, if you're coming in person to see me,

Triona04:30 --> 04:38

Yeah. Clare Devereux, trichologist with us on the show today. More still to come on Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. [upbeat music]

Triona00:00 --> 00:06

Amara. And we're joined on the show today by Claire Devereux, who is a trichologist. Claire, do you see men as well, or is it mostly women?

Clare00:06 --> 00:28

Yeah, I do see men as well. Yeah, I definitely do, but I, I focus very much with women because I feel men have a lot of help out there when it,

Triona00:28 --> 00:28

Did ya?

Clare00:28 --> 00:56

Yeah, my first product was for, like, new moms. And I think that's where everything else has come from because I personally, even though I was a,

Triona00:56 --> 01:00

Yeah. It's like this business, people, like, you become a counselor.

Clare01:00 --> 01:00

Yeah.

Triona01:00 --> 01:01

You become a counselor-

Clare01:01 --> 01:01

Yeah

Triona01:01 --> 01:01

... for your clients.

Clare01:02 --> 01:03

You really do. You really do.

Triona01:03 --> 01:03

Yeah.

Clare01:03 --> 01:19

And I think anyone who works in the hair industry will say the same thing, you know, that everyone wants to talk to you. You know, when your hair's not good, like we even said,

Triona01:19 --> 01:20

Wanting to socialize, everything, yeah

Clare01:20 --> 01:26

... yeah, you don't wanna do it because you think everyone's looking at your hair, that everyone thinks that your hair is thin, they can see your scalp or whatever it is-

Triona01:26 --> 01:26

Yeah

Clare01:26 --> 01:35

... or your hair looks very dry, whatever it is. And really, people aren't probably looking at it the way you think they are. It's like

Triona01:35 --> 01:35

[laughs]

Clare01:35 --> 01:44

For me, it's about talking to someone and to really connecting the dots that way and telling them that there's hope because I think a lot of people feel this

Triona01:44 --> 01:44

Yeah.

Clare01:44 --> 01:51

There's loads you can do about it, and that's why there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and just always remember that. There's always good hair days a- ahead. Always remember that.

Triona01:51 --> 01:58

Claire, can I ask you about, uh, something that we touched on very briefly earlier on? Dry scalp and dandruff, are they the same thing, different things?

Clare01:58 --> 01:59

No, totally different thing.

Triona01:59 --> 01:59

Okay.

Clare01:59 --> 02:27

Yeah. So dandruff tends to be an oily condition because it tends to be that it's built up on your scalp. It's, it's, um, too much sebum that you're producing, so it's oil.

Triona02:27 --> 02:27

Okay.

Clare02:27 --> 02:46

So you need to really go and see somebody. If you're suffering with bad dandruff or you're suffering with very dry, tight... You shouldn't have a dry, tight, itchy scalp,

Triona02:46 --> 02:46

Yeah

Clare02:46 --> 02:47

... "that I realized."

Triona02:47 --> 02:47

Yeah.

Clare02:47 --> 03:01

So that's not normal. So if you, if you are listening and you're suffering with that, that's not normal. And to be scratching your scalp all the time because you're causing then,

Triona03:01 --> 03:02

It's a big thing, isn't it?

Clare03:02 --> 03:02

Yeah.

Triona03:02 --> 03:08

And I mean, you know, if you have that, you're worried about wearing black clothes or your jacket's being covered. It's for men as well.

Clare03:08 --> 03:08

Absolutely.

Triona03:08 --> 03:13

The jacket's being covered and the, the embarrassment of people noticing that there's dandruff on your shoulders, et cetera.

Clare03:13 --> 03:23

Well, they're two different things, and that's what I'm saying. You really have to look at it, and sometimes you have to look at diet. It's a whole thing. It's like layers

Triona03:23 --> 03:23

Yeah.

Clare03:23 --> 03:34

We're all very unique and everything's very different. But if you're suffering with that and it's definitely causing you problems and, and causing you to be,

Triona03:34 --> 03:34

Yeah

Clare03:34 --> 03:38

... it's definitely worth getting the right help. And once you do, you're on the right track.

Triona03:38 --> 03:38

It's, it's done.

Clare03:38 --> 03:40

You know what I mean? It's done. It's the right track.

Triona03:40 --> 03:40

Yeah.

Clare03:40 --> 03:46

And you know how to deal with it. So, you know, don't be afraid to get help with it for sure because there, there, there are answers out there,

Triona03:46 --> 04:02

Claire Devereux, trichologist in studio. She makes me look a state. She's so glamorous. Uh, thanks so much for... Well, I'm gonna pop her picture up on Instagram now, so you can have a look.

Clare04:02 --> 04:09

Oh, my own Instagram is clairedevereuxstyle, and then, um, hairhealthessentials is, is the Instagram for the, the brand, and that's also the website as well.

Triona04:09 --> 04:13

So if people do want to book in to have their scalp seen to or their hair-

Clare04:13 --> 04:13

Yeah

Triona04:13 --> 04:14

... what's the best way to do it?

Clare04:14 --> 04:23

Yeah, hairhealthessentials.com. You can go on there, and you can make an appointment to see me either at my clinic, I'm out in Blackrock here in Dublin,

Triona04:23 --> 04:23

Okay.

Clare04:23 --> 04:24

So you can find me.

Triona04:24 --> 04:29

Great stuff. And especially for brides as well. If you're a bride and you're thinking, "God, I need to sort out the hair-"

Clare04:29 --> 04:29

Yes

Triona04:29 --> 04:31

... now's a good time to kind of start.

Clare04:31 --> 04:48

It's definitely a great time to start, and it's never too late. Like, even if you think if you're having a quick wedding or something and you think it's in six weeks, you know,

Triona04:48 --> 04:48

Fab.

Clare04:48 --> 04:49

Which is very important.

Triona04:49 --> 04:52

Great stuff. It's Ireland's Classic Hits Radio. Thanks for coming in.

Clare04:52 --> 04:57

Thank you.
