The Special Occasion Edit

Selected by Clare Devereux — Clinical Trichologist, Harley Street & Dublin

A three-product routine for editorial-level shine — weddings, events, shoots, or any day you want your hair to look exceptional. Glass-like gloss, lasting smoothness, and a fragrance that lingers.

What this routine addresses

Hair that needs to look its absolute best for a specific event.

The Glass Effect duo is formulated for maximum light reflection. Organic avocado oil and panthenol smooth the cuticle to a level that daily moisturising products don't reach. The result is the kind of shine that catches the light from across a room — what editorial stylists call 'glass hair.'

Preparing for a wedding, photoshoot, or formal event.

Professional blowouts, sets, and updos hold better on hair that's been properly prepared. This routine gives your stylist a better canvas to work with — smoother, more manageable, less frizz, more shine. The mist adds lightweight protection so the style lasts longer once it's set.

Hair that needs to photograph or film well.

Camera and video are unforgiving. They flatten dimension and expose texture irregularities that you'd never notice in person. The Glass Effect duo delivers the kind of uniform surface smoothness that photographs beautifully — consistent light reflection without hot spots or dull patches.

Wanting that just-left-the-salon shine every day, not just once.

Not every day needs to be a special occasion. Some people want editorial-quality hair as their daily standard. This routine delivers that without silicone buildup, heavy serums, or products that weigh hair down. It's high-performance but clean — gloss that comes from the hair itself, not from what's sitting on it.

A hair routine that feels indulgent, not just functional.

The Glass Effect duo includes organic patchouli, juniper, and avocado — a woody, elegant character that's distinct from the Moisturising range. The mist adds a soft floral-aquatic layer. Together they create something deliberately sophisticated. This routine smells like intention.

There may be a better starting point if
  • Your hair needs repair before it can shine — damaged cuticles can’t reflect light properly no matter what you put on them. The Deep Repair Edit addresses the structural damage first, then this Edit takes it further
  • Your scalp is uncomfortable or reactive. The Scalp Recovery Edit settles the foundation — shine means nothing if the scalp underneath isn’t right
  • You colour your hair and protecting the colour is the priority. The Colour Protection Edit maintains colour specifically, while this Edit is formulated for gloss regardless of colour status
  • You want a simpler daily routine without the editorial emphasis. The Everyday Healthy Hair Edit is the uncomplicated foundation for generally healthy hair
  • Your primary concern is volume or thinning rather than shine. The Volume & Strength Edit addresses the scalp and strand thickness that this Edit doesn’t target
From Clare

This is the Edit I’d use before a camera. Before the Oscars red carpet. Before any moment where your hair needs to be undeniably, unapologetically beautiful.

The Glass Effect duo delivers a level of shine that’s different from the Moisturising range — and it’s different by design. Organic avocado oil nourishes deeply without weight. Panthenol strengthens and smooths from inside the shaft. Patchouli and juniper give it a fragrance character that’s woody and sophisticated rather than fruity and sweet. The result is hair that looks like it’s been professionally finished even when it hasn’t.

The Keratin Glow Mist then does what it always does — seals, protects, and carries the results forward. But on top of the Glass Effect duo, the effect is amplified. The cuticle is already smoother than usual, so the mist’s keratin and red algae are building on a higher baseline. More shine, more smoothness, more lasting hold. Three products that turn a good hair day into an exceptional one.

The Experience

Elegant woody notes — smoky vetiver, freshly cut grass, and warm patchouli from the shampoo and conditioner. The mist adds soft florals and vanilla. This doesn’t smell like a haircare routine. It smells like getting ready for something worth getting ready for.

Your Routine

Three steps. Use in the days leading up to your event for cumulative effect, or as your daily routine if editorial shine is your standard.

  • Glass Effect Shampoo
Apply to wet hair. Lather gently, focusing on the scalp. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. The formula begins the smoothing process — your hair will feel different before you’ve even conditioned.
  • Glass Effect Conditioner
Apply generously to mid-lengths and ends. Leave for two to three minutes — longer than the Moisturising Conditioner. This is where the glass-like finish is built. Rinse with cool water for maximum cuticle closure and shine.
  • Keratin Glow Mist
Towel-dry gently, then mist through mid-lengths and ends. The mist amplifies the Glass Effect duo — more shine, more protection, more lasting smoothness. On non-wash days or the morning of your event, a few sprays on dry hair refreshes the finish.

For a specific event: start using this routine three to four days before. Each wash builds on the last — the cumulative effect is noticeably stronger than a single-use result. On the day itself, the mist is your final finishing touch.

Common Questions

Can I use this as my everyday routine, not just for events?

Absolutely. Some clients use the Glass Effect duo as their daily routine. It delivers more shine than the Moisturising range and has a distinctive woody fragrance. If editorial-quality hair is your daily standard, this is the routine that delivers it.

What’s the difference between this and the Colour Protection Edit?

The Glass Effect duo is formulated for shine and smoothness. The Colour Saviour duo is formulated to protect colour pigment. If you colour your hair and want shine, use the Glass Effect routine in the days before an event, and the Colour Protection Edit as your daily routine. They complement each other.

What if my hair is damaged — will this still work?

The Glass Effect duo works best on hair that's in reasonable condition. If your hair is significantly damaged — dry, porous, breaking — the cuticle can't reflect light properly regardless of what you put on it. Use the Deep Repair Edit for four to six weeks first, then switch to this for maximum shine on a repaired surface.

This is the Edit that makes you look in the mirror and stop. Three products, no complexity — just the kind of hair that makes people ask what you’re using.

From the Studio Notes

If you’re also noticing changes in your hair beyond the shine — shedding, thinning, scalp discomfort — those are worth investigating separately. Clare has written about the difference between shedding and breakage, and her guide to blood tests for hair loss explains which markers are worth checking with your GP.
